Split Airport: business aviation for the city, coast and islands
Private flights use Split Airport (SPU / LDSP) at Kaštela. The airport publishes dedicated General & Business Aviation ground handling and a specific business-aviation contact. During the summer season, Split is also schedule-facilitated for traffic including charter, general aviation and business aviation. This does not make private-jet operations difficult, but it does mean that the requested schedule should be coordinated properly in advance.
The airport sits between Trogir and Split. The transfer to Trogir is very short, while Split Old Town takes longer and the coastal road can become busy in July and August. Travellers continuing to Hvar or a yacht do not automatically need to drive into the city first. Depending on the berth and timing, a private speedboat connection from a suitable departure point can be much more efficient.
Split Airport publishes a General & Business Aviation contact window of 06:00–22:00. The operating carrier and handler still verify current airport hours, schedule facilitation, NOTAMs and any possibility outside the normal window. A late dinner arrival or very early yacht connection should therefore not be planned from airborne time alone.
Light or Super Light Jet: efficient access to the Adriatic coast
From Amsterdam, Split is an indicative flight of around two hours and fifteen minutes. We normally recommend a Light or Super Light Jet. A Light Jet works particularly well for two to five passengers with a compact baggage profile. For six to eight travellers, more suitcases or a longer holiday, a Super Light Jet provides extra comfort and baggage capacity without moving straight into a much larger category.
At Split, baggage is often linked to what happens after the flight. A city break with hand luggage is very different from a week on a yacht with large soft bags, diving equipment or watersports gear. We therefore check the actual load space of every aircraft offered rather than simply counting seats. For a boat transfer, it is also useful to arrange baggage and ground handling so everything moves with the guests without unnecessary repacking.
The runway supports a broad range of business jets, so aircraft choice is usually driven more by comfort and charter-market availability than performance. During peak season, slots, parking and crew duty can still influence the final structure. A jet returning home the same day is a very different mission from an aircraft expected to wait for a week during a yacht charter.
Split, Trogir or Hvar: the best arrival depends on the itinerary
For a city stay, Split Old Town around Diocletian’s Palace is the obvious base, although car access is restricted in parts of the centre. Hotel Ambasador sits on the waterfront side and works well for travellers wanting a high-end stay with easy access to town. Trogir is extremely close to the airport and can be useful for a first or final night around an early flight.
For many private-jet travellers, Hvar is the real destination. The boat transfer then becomes part of the aviation planning. Palace Elisabeth is a well-known high-end option in Hvar Town, while resorts and villas outside the centre provide more privacy. A speedboat can save significant time depending on weather and departure point, but we always build in an alternative when sea conditions are less favourable.
In Split, Zrno Soli near the marina and Dvor are established choices for dinner by the water or with a view. On Hvar, restaurant availability is far more seasonal. June and September often offer the best balance of warm weather and slightly lower congestion. July and August are lively, but yacht berths, restaurants, hotels and private-flight capacity should all be secured earlier.
What determines the private jet price to Split?
The charter price starts with the available Light or Super Light Jet and where it is positioned before departure. Split sits well within the European business-aviation network, so aircraft in Italy, Austria, Croatia or southern Germany can sometimes produce an efficient charter. On busy summer weekends, the same market can become tight.
Parking and length of stay matter. For lunch or a same-day return, the same aircraft can often remain part of the mission throughout the day. For seven nights on Hvar, it may be more economical for the jet to leave after drop-off and use a new aircraft position for the return. Schedule facilitation and crew duty can also alter the total structure.
