Direct to Maribor and Slovenian Styria
Maribor Edvard Rusjan Airport (MBX/LJMB) is approximately fifteen to twenty minutes from the centre. Indicative flight time from Amsterdam is around 1 hour 50 minutes. For a meeting in Maribor or Ptuj, or a stay among the wine hills, landing directly can therefore remove considerable road time.
The airport has a 2,500-metre runway and can receive many common business jets. For passengers, availability matters more: MBX is not a 24-hour airport and uses prior permission. We therefore confirm opening, PPR and handling before offering the flight. Technical coordination stays behind the scenes; you see an executable route and a clear alternative.
When a requested early or late movement does not fit MBX, Graz Airport is normally the strongest alternative. Maribor is often forty-five minutes to one hour from Graz, depending on traffic and destination area. Ljubljana is farther away but may suit a trip combining several Slovenian locations or when a more favourable aircraft is positioned there.
Which aircraft suits Maribor?
A Light Jet is often the best initial choice for four to seven travellers. The route is short enough for an efficient aircraft and long enough to appreciate jet speed and cabin comfort. A turboprop may suit a smaller party. A Super Light or Midsize Jet fits more passengers, substantial baggage or a preference for additional cabin height.
For a corporate day return, the same jet may wait when airport hours, parking and crew planning align. On a weekend or wine trip, the aircraft need not remain in Maribor for several days. Drop-and-go or a different aircraft for the return can provide more flexibility and better value.
Maribor beside the Drava
Maribor is Slovenia’s second city but feels manageable and relaxed. Its centre sits beside the Drava and is easy to explore on foot. Lent, the old riverside district, is a natural starting point. It is also home to the famous old grapevine which, according to the official tourism organisation, is more than 450 years old and still produces grapes.
A hotel in or close to the centre suits corporate travellers: meetings, restaurants and the river are nearby. The city carries less metropolitan pressure than Ljubljana and works well for a private meeting, incentive or executive retreat. A chauffeur can remain available after landing, although one is not needed for every element in the compact centre.
Each season gives Maribor a different character. Spring and summer bring riverside terraces and green wine hills. Autumn centres strongly on harvest and wine celebrations. Winter shifts attention towards Pohorje and wellness, while the historic centre remains a calm base.
Štajerska wine country and dining
Maribor lies at the heart of an important Slovenian wine region. Wine roads lead from the city towards the hills and producers of Štajerska. A tasting at the Old Vine House can be the start; for a full afternoon, we arrange a chauffeur and pre-booked visits. Several estates and lunch can then be combined without anyone driving.
Local cuisine reflects the wine culture and ingredients of Styria. A gastronomic programme can combine a restaurant in the city with a destination just outside Maribor. House Denk, highlighted by the official tourism organisation, is one regional option suited to an evening for which transport is arranged in advance.
For wine travelling home, we check quantity, packaging and weight. A few bottles are straightforward; several cases can affect the hold and payload of a Light Jet. When purchases remain unknown before travel, we prefer to plan some margin rather than change the return aircraft at the last moment.
Pohorje: nature, wellness and winter
Pohorje, south of the city, is a green mountain area for hiking, cycling and wellness. In winter, it becomes a ski destination. Maribor therefore combines city and nature well: a corporate day can transition into a quiet weekend in the hills without another long transfer.

Price and practical journey structure
Charter price consists of aircraft, positioning, flight time, airport charges, handling, crew and return structure. A direct flight to MBX can save time, while Graz can sometimes provide more aircraft choice or broader timings. The least expensive flight is not automatically best when it creates a much longer transfer.
