Lyon-Bron or Saint Exupéry: choose the airport around the mission
Lyon offers private aviation something many cities do not: two serious airports with clearly different strengths. Lyon-Bron (LYN / LFLY) is the first choice for many business-jet trips. The airport is strongly dedicated to business aviation, sits close to the city and publishes a runway length of approximately 1,820 metres. For meetings around Part-Dieu, Presqu'île or eastern Lyon, it can remove a meaningful amount of ground time.
Bron publishes standard airport hours around 07:00 to 20:00 local, with wider tower hours and extensions available on request. Flights outside the Schengen/EU framework can also require advance customs notice. This makes Bron highly attractive but not universal. For late arrivals, larger aircraft, more complex border formalities or maximum operating margin, Lyon-Saint Exupéry (LYS / LFLL) is the robust alternative. It has a 4,000-metre runway and 24/7 customs and immigration without special notice.
We therefore do not automatically choose the airport closest to the centre. An arrival planned for 22:30 may be better routed directly to Saint Exupéry rather than depending on an extension at Bron. A daytime same-day return to an office in Lyon is where Bron is difficult to beat. The specific accommodation area and target arrival time determine the decision.
Light or Super Light Jet for business, gastronomy and Alpine connections
From Amsterdam, Lyon is a comfortable Light Jet mission. A compact Citation or Phenom can suit three or four passengers, while a Super Light Jet becomes more attractive for six to eight travellers, extra baggage or a stronger cabin requirement. At Lyon-Bron we still check aircraft-specific performance. A runway of 1,820 metres is suitable for many modern business jets, but weight, temperature and runway condition remain part of the operator's final calculation.
A Light Jet can be commercially efficient on a same-day business return because the sector is short. For a weekend with ski bags, golf equipment or larger cases, the baggage volume of a Super Light Jet can be worth more than a small saving on aircraft size. Positioning also matters. Lyon sees substantial business-aviation activity, so an aircraft already in the region can occasionally beat a smaller jet that must position empty from elsewhere.
Lyon can also serve as a robust gateway to parts of the French Alps when smaller mountain airports are limited by weather or operating conditions. The drive is longer, but runway capability, opening hours and alternate options improve. For winter travel we therefore compare the complete journey to the chalet or hotel, not just the flight time.
Presqu'île, Hôtel-Dieu and a city where food belongs in the itinerary
Lyon is a serious business city, but it has enough character to justify an extra evening. InterContinental Lyon – Hotel Dieu, inside the historic Grand Hôtel-Dieu on the Rhône, is a strong central luxury base. Presqu'île, Place Bellecour and many restaurants are easy to reach from there, which works well for a compact executive itinerary.
Gastronomy is part of Lyon's identity. Traditional bouchons sit alongside modern fine dining and the legacy of Paul Bocuse. Les Halles de Lyon Paul Bocuse is useful for a high-quality lunch between meetings, while the wider city offers multiple Michelin-level dinner options. For atmosphere, Vieux Lyon and the slopes of Croix-Rousse can be combined with an early evening walk before returning to the airport.
For corporate travellers, Part-Dieu is often the real destination. In that case a chauffeur from Bron can matter more than a hotel in the old town. For leisure, Presqu'île or the western side near Fourvière may make more sense. If the destination area is already known, you may share it later or include it voluntarily for more tailored airport and transfer advice.

For Lyon, the proposal should always identify the selected airport. Bron may be more or less expensive than Saint Exupéry depending on handling, extensions and aircraft position, while its road transfer can be significantly shorter. For late operations, Saint Exupéry may provide more certainty. We make that trade-off visible rather than presenting only a charter total.

A simple meeting may become a tightly planned same-day return; a gastronomic weekend, trade fair or Alpine onward journey deserves more margin.
