Brindisi Airport: the right gateway for Lecce
Brindisi Airport – Aeroporto del Salento (BDS / LIBR) lies north of Lecce and is the primary airport for private flights to the city and southern Puglia. Main runway 13/31 is 3,048 metres long, with a second runway also available. This accommodates a wide range of business-jet categories, subject to aircraft type, weight, temperature, wind and the runway configuration in use.
A PPR procedure applies at Brindisi for General Aviation and air-taxi operations with up to 19 seats. The handler requests permission and coordinates passenger handling, ramp services, fuel and parking where required. We therefore treat the preferred timing as operationally confirmed only after the operator, handler and airport have accepted the movement.
Lecce–Galatina is closer to the city, but it is primarily a military airport rather than a normal commercial gateway that we offer as a standard alternative. Bari is a full civil alternative, although it is considerably further from Lecce. We compare Bari with Brindisi only when aircraft availability, opening, parking or the wider itinerary creates a genuine reason.
Light Jet or Super Light Jet: efficient access to southern Puglia
Amsterdam–Brindisi takes approximately two hours and forty minutes. A Light Jet is often efficient for a small group with normal baggage. A Super Light Jet provides more cabin comfort and hold volume, useful for families, longer stays or travellers continuing directly to a villa or yacht.
The distance does not automatically require a Midsize Jet. It may still be sensible for seven or eight passengers, substantial luggage, golf bags or when a favourably positioned aircraft improves the overall price. We compare specific aircraft rather than only categories or hourly rates. A smaller jet positioning empty from southern Europe can ultimately cost more than a roomier aircraft already close to departure.
For the return, we assess whether the same aircraft should wait. This can be efficient for a business day trip. For a weekend or longer holiday, drop-and-go and a newly selected return aircraft may be more attractive, particularly when Brindisi parking is restricted or the crew would otherwise remain for several nights.
From the airport to Lecce, Otranto or Gallipoli
Aeroporti di Puglia places Lecce approximately 45 kilometres from Brindisi Airport. The transfer is manageable in normal traffic, but landing time is not the same as arrival at the hotel, meeting or restaurant. We include realistic margin for disembarkation, baggage handling and traffic around Brindisi and Lecce.
For a stay in the historic centre, the chauffeur needs to know where access and baggage handover are practical. Masserias and rural villas may be reached by smaller roads. Travellers continuing to Otranto, Santa Maria di Leuca or Gallipoli remain on the road beyond Lecce, and July or August coastal traffic can extend the journey. The specific location therefore determines vehicle choice and the preferred landing time.
For a wedding, yacht charter or event, we align the flight with the elements of the programme that are genuinely fixed. A second vehicle may be wise for substantial baggage or a larger party. For a yacht, we request the marina, access point and captain’s or agent’s details so the chauffeur and boarding arrangements remain connected.
Summer parking and the actual charter price
Brindisi designates Apron 3 primarily for General Aviation and air taxi. During the summer period, parking is generally limited to 24 hours; a longer stay depends on approval and available capacity. We therefore never assume that the same jet can remain in Brindisi throughout a week in Salento.
During popular summer weekends, PPR, parking, aircraft availability, chauffeurs and accommodation all become tighter at the same time. An early request preserves choice, while every mission remains subject to current confirmation. The handler also verifies opening, night coordination, fuel and stand arrangements for the actual travel date.
The charter price to Lecce consists of aircraft position, flight hours, airport and handling charges, parking, crew and return structure. If the destination area is already known, you may share it later or include it voluntarily for more tailored airport and transfer advice. JetServiceNL compares current AOC-operated options and shows clearly which combination best fits the complete journey to Lecce and Salento.
