Flying privately to Greece
From the Netherlands, a direct private flight to Athens takes approximately 3 hours 15 minutes. Mykonos and Santorini are slightly farther away, while Corfu and western Greece are closer. You choose the departure airport and time, travel through a private terminal and continue directly to your hotel, villa, yacht or meeting. This avoids not only an airline schedule, but often a connection through Athens as well.
A Light Jet can be efficient and comfortable for a small party. A Super Light or Midsize Jet provides more cabin room and baggage capacity for a longer stay. This matters when you travel with large cases, golf bags, children’s equipment or soft bags for a yacht. We compare larger jets for families and groups. Our advice reflects the entire journey rather than seat count alone.
Athens and the Athens Riviera
Athens International Airport is the versatile gateway for the capital, Piraeus, the Athens Riviera and parts of the Peloponnese. A chauffeur can take you directly into the centre for a meeting or city break, or south towards Glyfada, Vouliagmeni and the coast. For a yacht departing from Piraeus, Flisvos or another marina, we align arrival with the agreed embarkation time.
Athens deserves more than a connection. The Acropolis and its museum provide a strong cultural foundation, while Kolonaki, Plaka and the Riviera each create a different stay. Rooftop dining overlooking the city, contemporary galleries and refined Greek cuisine make it easy to combine culture and comfort. In summer, a few days in Athens can lead naturally into an island or yachting holiday; spring and autumn are particularly pleasant for the city and archaeological sites.
Mykonos, Santorini and the Cyclades
Mykonos appeals to travellers combining the privacy of a villa with beach clubs, restaurants and a lively atmosphere. Santorini is more about its volcanic landscape, caldera, wine and intimate hotels with remarkable views. Paros, Naxos and other Cycladic islands offer a quieter character. Not every island has an airport suitable for a direct international private flight. Sometimes landing directly is ideal; elsewhere, a short private boat or helicopter transfer from a nearby island produces a better journey.
The best-known island airports are extremely busy in July and August. Slots and parking may be scarce, so booking early provides more choice. The aircraft may drop passengers off, park elsewhere and return for departure. For you, the important point is knowing the return timing and flexibility in advance; we include the most practical structure in the quotation.
Ionian islands, Crete and the mainland
In the west, Corfu offers green landscapes, Venetian architecture, sheltered bays and elegant villas. Kefalonia and Zakynthos each have distinctive beaches and yachting possibilities. The Ionian Sea is popular for sailing because islands and harbours lie relatively close together. Arrival can connect directly with a private transfer to your villa or marina, removing the need to travel through Athens.
Crete is large enough for a longer itinerary. Heraklion suits central and eastern Crete; Chania serves the west, its old harbour and resorts on that side of the island. Beaches, mountain villages, archaeology and a strong local cuisine combine well. For the Peloponnese, we consider Kalamata, Araxos or Athens according to your resort, villa or route. Costa Navarino, historic sites and peaceful coastlines make this region appealing for golf, food and privacy.
Planning the flight around your stay
A business appointment in Athens can work as a same-day return, although an overnight stay is generally more relaxed. An island, villa or yacht normally calls for several days. We compare keeping the aircraft, releasing it after arrival or bringing an aircraft back later. Drop-and-go may be practical at popular islands; waiting can add flexibility for a short trip. Your transparent proposal combines aircraft, airport, return structure and transfers.
May, June, September and October often bring pleasant temperatures and a calmer atmosphere. July and August deliver the full summer experience but require earlier planning. Outside the main season, not every island hotel and restaurant remains open; Athens and Crete have a longer travel year. Share your dates, final destination, party and luggage. JetServiceNL will create a charter proposal suited to the mood and pace of your stay.
