Bourges Airport: three kilometres from the city, with performance as the key factor
For a private flight to Bourges, Bourges Airport (BOU / LFLD) is the most direct choice. The French AIP places the airport three kilometres southwest of the city and publishes paved runway 06/24 at 1,550 by 45 metres. Runway 06 offers a 1,550-metre landing distance, while runway 24 offers 1,420 metres. That difference is exactly why we do not plan this destination by the generic label Light Jet alone; we look at the actual performance of the aircraft being offered.
Bourges accepts IFR and VFR traffic, but it is not a 24-hour business-aviation hub. The AIP publishes AFIS periods with a midday break and shorter weekend hours. An extension can be requested on PPR, no later than the previous day before 11:00. A flight from the Netherlands is an intra-Schengen and EU arrival; the operating carrier checks the applicable customs notification for the requested date in advance. That makes the airport an excellent fit for some business aircraft and a less suitable option for others. For an overnight stay, Hôtel de Bourbon Mercure Bourges is a practical four-star option. It occupies a former abbey, has private parking and is around a ten-minute walk from the historic centre. For dinner, the current Michelin selection includes La Suite and Le Beauvoir. Bourges does not need a row of five-star resorts to work well for a private client; the better experience is a characterful hotel and a short, simple route through the city.
