Flying privately to Berlin
Berlin is approximately one hour and twenty minutes from Amsterdam. The sector is short enough for a same-day return, although the city itself requires more planning than the airborne time suggests. With Tegel and Tempelhof closed, there is no longer a small city airport placing you close to Mitte. Berlin Brandenburg Airport is therefore the established gateway for almost every private-jet mission.
The General Aviation Terminal at BER
Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER / EDDB) has a dedicated General Aviation Terminal in Service Area North close to Terminal 1. The GAT is operated by BAS Berlin Aviation Service. Private-jet passengers therefore do not simply have to follow the standard airline passenger flow; handling, crew, baggage and vehicle coordination can be organised specifically around business aviation.
BER has long runways and can accommodate everything from light jets to large-cabin and heavy aircraft. For a route from the Netherlands, runway performance is therefore rarely the limiting factor. International summits, state visits, major trade fairs and events such as Berlinale or IFA can, however, create additional pressure on parking and handling. For those dates we prefer to secure airport arrangements early.
Which aircraft suits Amsterdam – Berlin?
A turboprop or light jet is normally the strongest first category. For two or three passengers, a turboprop can be commercially attractive when the schedule is relaxed. A light jet is better suited when speed, a corporate cabin and a tightly planned day matter. For six or seven passengers, a super light jet can provide extra space, but the sector is too short for a midsize aircraft to be necessary on range alone.
Charter price is heavily influenced by where the aircraft is positioned before your flight. On routes between the Netherlands and Germany, aircraft are frequently available across the Benelux, Germany and France. A well-positioned Citation CJ, Phenom or comparable light jet can therefore be much more efficient than a larger aircraft that first needs an empty positioning sector.
From BER to Mitte, Tiergarten or City West
BER is southeast of central Berlin. A chauffeured transfer to Mitte, Potsdamer Platz or the government quarter is often roughly thirty-five to fifty minutes, although ring-road and inner-city traffic can add time. For meetings in Kreuzberg, Friedrichshain or the southeast of Berlin, BER can be relatively convenient. Charlottenburg and Kurfürstendamm involve a longer ground journey.
When several meetings are planned, it is worth clustering them geographically. Berlin is spread out. A meeting near the Bundestag, lunch in Charlottenburg and another appointment in Adlershof can easily create more road time than the flight from Amsterdam to Berlin.
Where to stay in Berlin
Hotel Adlon Kempinski next to Brandenburg Gate remains a classic choice for guests focused on Mitte, the government district and Unter den Linden. Hotel de Rome works well for Bebelplatz and the historic centre. Das Stue offers a more residential feel near Tiergarten, while City West and Charlottenburg are attractive for Kurfürstendamm, luxury shopping and appointments on the western side of the city.
For creative, media and technology businesses, Mitte, Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain may make more sense than the traditional five-star addresses. On a short corporate visit we therefore select accommodation area around the agenda rather than reputation alone.
Restaurants and Berlin after meetings
Berlin continues to have one of Germany's strongest fine-dining scenes in 2026. Rutz leads with three MICHELIN Stars, while Tim Raue, Facil, Coda and Horváth are among the city's two-star restaurants. For a less formal evening, Kreuzberg, Prenzlauer Berg and Mitte offer a broad mix of contemporary German, Asian and international dining.
The city is equally compelling for art, architecture and history. Museum Island, the Neue Nationalgalerie, private galleries and contemporary art spaces in converted industrial buildings can easily justify an additional day. Berlin is therefore particularly good for combining a focused corporate visit with culture.
Seasons and major events
Berlin is a genuine four-season destination. Summer brings long evenings, terraces and outdoor programmes; winter shifts the emphasis towards museums, restaurants and Christmas markets. Major fairs and political events often influence hotel rates and road traffic more than the season itself. Around those peaks we secure not only the aircraft but also handling and chauffeur arrangements early.
Include Potsdam and Adlershof in the planning
Not every trip labelled “Berlin” actually ends in Mitte. For technology, science and corporate campuses, Adlershof in the southeast is relatively convenient from BER. Potsdam lies to the west and requires a longer road transfer, but it may be the real destination for media, research or a private stay around the lakes. If the destination area is already known, you may share it later or include it voluntarily for more tailored airport and transfer advice.
