Augsburg Airport: compact and around 15 minutes from the city
Augsburg Airport (AGB / EDMA) is normally the first choice for a private flight to Augsburg. The airport lies north-east of the city, and the City of Augsburg quotes about 15 minutes to the centre. For meetings in Augsburg or at the Airpark, that can provide a clear door-to-door advantage over a large commercial airport.
Runway 07/25 is approximately 1,594 metres long and 30 metres wide. Many turboprops and several Light Jets can operate comfortably, but we always confirm performance for the exact aircraft. Weight, temperature, wind and wet or winter runway conditions can materially change the available margin.
Augsburg should also not be presented as an unrestricted H24 airport. PPR is required for movements Monday to Saturday between 21:00 and 07:00, and on Sundays and public holidays between 21:00 and 09:00. The published regulation asks for the request by 12:00 local time on the previous day. Early or late movements can therefore be planned, but only after confirmation.
Turboprop or Light Jet: runway performance drives the choice
Amsterdam–Augsburg is roughly 332 nautical miles. For a small group, a modern turboprop can be highly efficient, combining strong runway performance with a comfortable cabin and sensible mission economics. Travellers who prefer a jet have several Light Jet options, provided the specific aircraft has sufficient margin for the conditions on the day.
We therefore look beyond the nominal seat count. Six passengers with substantial baggage on a hot or wet day may lead to a different recommendation from two passengers on a cool, dry morning. If a larger cabin is required, or the preferred aircraft does not have enough margin at EDMA, we compare Munich. MUC offers much longer runways, but airport processes and the road transfer to Augsburg normally add time.
The Dutch departure airport can also affect the result. Amsterdam is a useful reference, but Rotterdam, Eindhoven or another field may be more economical when a suitable aircraft is already positioned there. On a short sector, reducing empty positioning can matter more than saving a few minutes in cruise.
Business in Augsburg, Maximilianstraße and the historic centre
Augsburg has its own industrial and technology base. The Augsburg Airpark beside the airport hosts aviation and maintenance businesses, allowing a corporate day to stay compact: private aircraft, chauffeur to an office or factory, and a return to the Netherlands the same evening.
For an overnight stay, Hotel Maximilian's is centrally located on Maximilianstraße. The five-star superior hotel combines representative facilities with a historic-city setting, and its restaurant Sartory holds a Michelin star. The Rathaus, Fuggerei and other old-town landmarks are close together, while Augsburg's historic water-management system is UNESCO World Heritage.
Augsburg Airport can also work for meetings on the western side of Munich. The city quotes around 30 minutes to Munich-Karlsfeld/Pasing in favourable conditions. For central or eastern Munich we compare this carefully with MUC, because traffic on the A8 can quickly change the door-to-door calculation.
PPR, parking and the return flight complete the planning
Augsburg's strength is its short, calm airport process, but the schedule must fit the operating framework. If a meeting overruns and the return falls outside regular hours, PPR needs to have been arranged in advance. We therefore prefer a realistic buffer rather than a departure time that works only on paper.
For a same-day return, the aircraft can often wait. For a multi-day stay, we compare parking with drop-and-go and a fresh positioning movement for the return. Crew duty, the aircraft's next assignment and winter de-icing can be just as relevant as the quoted flight price.
Before confirmation, JetServiceNL checks the specific aircraft, runway performance, airport availability, any required PPR and the chauffeur transfer to the destination area. That preserves the main reason for choosing Augsburg: a focused private-jet journey without an unnecessary detour through a major hub.
