Alicante Airport as the gateway to the Costa Blanca
Private flights normally use Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport (ALC / LEAL). Its runway is approximately 3,000 metres, making the airport suitable for a broad range of business jets. Runway performance is therefore rarely the first limitation on this route; aircraft position, handling, availability at the requested times and the distance from the airport to your villa, hotel or meeting usually matter more.
Alicante city and Playa de San Juan are relatively close to the airport. Travellers continuing to Altea, Calpe, Moraira or Jávea need to allow considerably more road time. For a villa stay on the northern Costa Blanca, the transfer can easily outweigh the few minutes saved by selecting a faster aircraft. If the destination area is already known, you may share it later or include it voluntarily for more tailored airport and transfer advice. It helps us plan the landing time and chauffeur properly and prevents an efficient private flight from being followed by unnecessary waiting on the ground.

Light or Super Light Jet: the sweet spot for this sector
For Amsterdam – Alicante we normally recommend a Light or Super Light Jet. A Light Jet is often highly efficient for two to five passengers with normal baggage. A Super Light Jet becomes more attractive for six to eight passengers, extra luggage or when a larger cabin and baggage hold are important. On a sector of roughly two and a half hours, the comfort difference is noticeable without making a larger category automatically necessary.
The Costa Blanca also produces very different baggage profiles. A business traveller with hand luggage is a very different mission from a family spending two weeks in a villa or a group travelling with golf bags. We therefore check actual baggage capacity, door dimensions and commercial payload rather than simply counting seats. An aircraft advertised with eight seats may be less practical for eight holiday passengers than a slightly larger alternative.
Positioning can have a major effect on price as well. Alicante attracts private and charter traffic from across Europe, so suitable aircraft may be available in Spain, France, Belgium or the Netherlands. We compare the complete mission rather than an hourly rate in isolation. A jet with a slightly higher flight-hour price but no long empty positioning sector can ultimately be the stronger option.
Alicante city, Altea or Jávea: decide where the journey really ends
Travellers staying in Alicante itself can choose between the old town around Santa Cruz, the marina and the beach districts. Hospes Amérigo is centrally located and works well for a short city stay or business overnight. The harbour and city centre offer plenty of dining, while a more local rice or seafood experience is often found by reserving away from the busiest tourist strips.
Many private-jet travellers use Alicante primarily as the gateway to the northern Costa Blanca. Altea feels quieter and more characterful, while Moraira and Jávea are popular for villas, yachts and longer stays. SHA Wellness near Altea also makes wellness travel a recurring mission profile. Golf courses are spread along the coast, so golf bags should always be declared before the aircraft is confirmed.
Spring and autumn are particularly attractive, with warm weather and less congestion than the July and August peak. Summer road traffic can add meaningfully to transfer times. For a fixed restaurant booking, yacht departure or business appointment, we prefer a sensible arrival buffer rather than a theoretically perfect touchdown with no margin.
What determines the charter price to Alicante?
Pricing is driven mainly by the available Light or Super Light Jet, where the aircraft is positioned before departure, the requested schedule and whether the same aircraft waits for you or leaves between sectors. For a long weekend, a drop-and-go structure may be commercially attractive; for a short day trip, keeping the aircraft with you can be more efficient.
The departure airport matters too. Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Eindhoven, Antwerp or an airport just across the German border can each produce a different aircraft position.
