Bombardier Global 8000 first production aircraft completes successful inaugural flight
Bombardier announced the successful inaugural flight of the first production Global 8000 aircraft, the world's fastest business jet. The milestone flight took off from Bombardier's state-of-the-art Aircraft Assembly Centre in Mississauga, Ontario, executing a series of production flight test procedures with exceptional performance.

Piloted by Captain Sandro Novelli, with Co-Pilot Charlie Honey and Flight Engineer Bhargav Bhavsar, the aircraft flawlessly exercised all flight controls and systems, meeting all expectations. This achievement marks another critical step in the Global 8000 program, following the outstanding performance of the flight test vehicle (FTV). The first production aircraft will now proceed to Bombardier's Laurent Beaudoin Completion Centre in Montreal for interior finishing ahead of its planned entry-into-service (EIS) in the second half of 2025.
Unmatched performance & luxury
As the fastest civil aircraft since the Concorde, the Global 8000 boasts an industry-leading top speed of Mach 0.94 and an 8,000-nautical-mile range, making it the ultimate business jet for global travel. Key features include:
- Ultra-low cabin altitude (2,900 ft.) for enhanced passenger comfort
- Four true living spaces and a dedicated crew rest area
- Industry's smoothest ride and largest cabin in its class
- Ultra-high cruise speed of Mach 0.92, enabling faster long-haul travel
Leadership perspectives
Stephen McCullough, Senior Vice President of Engineering and Product Development at Bombardier, stated: "The flawless performance of this first production flight underscores the Global 8000's groundbreaking capabilities. With its unparalleled speed, range, and luxurious cabin, this aircraft will redefine business aviation, offering discerning owners unmatched convenience and flexibility."
David Murray, Executive Vice President of Manufacturing, IT, and Bombardier Operational Excellence System, added: "This milestone reflects the extraordinary skill and dedication of our engineering, production, and flight teams. Their precision and expertise ensure the Global 8000 sets new benchmarks in performance and craftsmanship."
A new era in business aviation
Building on the success of the Global 7500, which has accumulated over 250,000 flight hours and 200+ deliveries since 2018, the Global 8000 elevates performance with:
